a decade or so ago, I came up with an idea for a concept album centered around a serial killer who sexually seduces his victims to later murder them, with half the record expressed from the killer's point of view, & the other half from the victims' point of view. Adorable.
I've always listed to plenty of industrial/synthetic rock, but haven't created much of it myself, so this project would be my attempt at that.
Unleashed my inner-Chino Moreno for this particular track, wanting the aesthetic to come off somewhere between Nine Inch Nails meets Chino's side projects Crosses & Team Sleep.
lyrics
I know where you've been
(I've been watching)
While my will is wearing thin
(from ignoring)
a hunger for the hunting
(it's so boring)
without a focus I'm restoring
I know what you're like
(when you're moving)
& you sway side to side
(so alluring)
'hon, I just want a bite
(of the fruit you're procuring)
'cuz I know that it's ripe
(& it's mine)
I just want a bite
(of the fruit you're procuring)
'cuz I know that it's mine
Yeah, we'll sail through the night
on cassette waves
on the blade of a knife
Thick as thieves
out of sight
You're a shade of pink
on my black-lit sky
I feel it creeping in
(without warning)
in pursuit of this again
(it's alarming)
when it crawls beneath the skin
(so disarming)
once it fuses we begin
I could make an obsession out of you
I know what you're like
(when you're moving)
& you sway side to side
(so alluring)
'hon, I just want a bite
(of the fruit you're procuring)
'cuz I know that it's ripe
(& it's mine)
I just want a bite
(of the fruit you're procuring)
'cuz I know that it's mine
as we glide
through the tides
in the deep of the night
where the creature resides
show me yours
show you mine
the facade fades out
with the passage of time
cut the skin
blood will thin
breath leaves your body
the numbing of limbs
terrified
hold you tight
'till the sunrise burns
what's left of your life
Yeah, we'll sail through the night
on cassette waves
on the blade of a knife
Thick as thieves
out of sight
You're a shade of pink
on my black-lit sky
